Samuel Rutherford is a partner with Alston & Bird’s Litigation & Trial Practice Team. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on the health care, financial services and transportation industries.
Sam has represented companies throughout the country in a broad range of litigation, including claims involving the False Claims Act, the Sherman Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, federal and state health care regulations, unfair trade practices statutes and the Bayh–Dole Act. He is a member of the Health Care, Financial Services and Appellate litigation teams.
Sam also has extensive experience in appellate litigation, including matters in the U.S. Supreme Court, state supreme courts and multiple federal circuits. He is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit, the Sixth Circuit and the Georgia Court of Appeals.
In addition, he served as a chapter editor for the seventh edition, and forthcoming eighth edition, of the Georgia Appellate Practice Handbook.
