Sandra R. Stigall focuses her trial practice on complex tort and product liability litigation. As a member of Shook’s national products liability litigation team for Tyco International since 2004, she has served as lead counsel in the defense of Ansul/Scott and other Tyco affiliates in numerous cases involving defect allegations in a wide variety of fire suppression and detection products, including fire detection and suppression systems, SCBAs, fire extinguishers and numerous chemical agents.
Sandy routinely defends wrongful death and personal injury matters and is well versed in litigation involving alleged exposure to toxic chemicals and industrial byproducts. Sandy has successfully mediated, arbitrated and tried cases in venues throughout the country ranging in value from nominal to multimillion-dollar.
Sandy often handles cases pre-suit at the claims stage to avoid expensive and protracted litigation. When suit is filed, she handles every facet of litigation, including investigation, document collection, motion practice, expert witness preparation, discovery, trials, appellate practice and settlement negotiations.
She routinely retains and works closely with highly qualified experts who can be utilized in the areas of cause and origin; product design, installation and service; code compliance; medical causation; fire spread; and overall fire suppression and detection. Sandy partners with the client to create an environment conducive to optimal results and value.
Sandy has co-authored several chapters for state bar publications pertaining to tort litigation and has been an author and presenter on environmental issues. Sandy has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law since 2009, where she teaches product liability.
