Santiago Herrera is an associate in the Finance Practice Group in the New York office of Haynes and Boone. His practice focuses on syndicated lending, project finance, and leveraged finance. Santiago has advised a wide variety of financial institutions, private equity funds, and corporations in both domestic and international financing transactions.
Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Santiago worked in the finance section of a large law firm based in North Carolina and before that as an associate in the capital markets and finance section of one of the largest law firms in Argentina, where he had also worked as a research law clerk while in law school.
During his first years of practice in Argentina, he was involved in several cutting-edge financing transactions, including the first issuance of perpetuities, the first securitization of future credit card receivables, and the issuance of quasi-sovereign bonds secured by hydrocarbon royalties.
As an LL.M. student at Northwestern, he was chosen by the international law students to be their graduation speaker. As a J.D. student at Wake Forest, he was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for obtaining the highest grade in the following courses: Private Equity Law (2016), Mergers and Acquisitions (2017), and Broker-Dealer Regulation (2017). While working in North Carolina, he was also assistant coach for the Wake Forest Rugby Men’s team, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity (NC).
