Attorney Sarah J. West was born and raised in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.
She earned a softball scholarship to attend The Ohio State University where she received First Team All-Region Accolades, Big Ten Player of the Week, Big Ten Scholar Athlete recognition, while earning a double major in Criminology and Sociology.
After graduation, Sarah joined the United States Navy and served four years active duty onboard the U.S.S. WASP (LHD-1), based out of Norfolk, Virginia. She completed her four years and moved to Phoenix, Arizona working for the State as a Juvenile Corrections Officer and transitioned to a position with the Federal Reserve as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer.
Sarah then decided to fulfill another life dream and graduated from Arizona Summit Law School. Sarah was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 2015.
Sarah works on cases including civil traffic violations, criminal misdemeanors, juvenile criminal defense, dependency matters, employment discrimination, prisoner’s rights issues, and felony cases.
The majority of Sarah’s current caseload includes criminal and civil traffic violations and Commercial Driver License defense.
She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Arizona LGBT Bar Association, the Board of Directors for the Greater Phoenix Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, is a Leading For Change Fellow, is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association, and a member of Arizona Attorneys For Criminal Justice.
Sarah is a volunteer attorney for Wills For Heroes, an organization that provides free wills to first responders and their spouses.
Leading For Change is an organization that teaches emerging community leaders how to develop a strategic plan to realize the change one wants to see in their community, whether through legislation, policy change, ballot initiatives, etc.
She was a part of the first Name and Gender Marker Change Clinic, to provided assistance to individuals that needed to change their name or gender marker on important government documents.
