Sarah E. McIntosh’s vast wealth of experience ranges from winning acquittals at trial to serving as general counsel for a news organization, and from teaching constitutional law at a university to leading a think tank and campaigning door-to-door as her party’s nominee for the state legislature. Sarah is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Virginia.

At Shook, Sarah focuses her practice on discovery in complex litigation, especially the eDiscovery essentials of preservation, collection and production. She has substantial experience in pharmaceutical cases, including multidistrict litigation.

Sarah employs her knowledge of cutting-edge technology and best practices to facilitate the efficient coordination of discovery tasks among clients, co-counsel and legal technology vendors.

In her discovery practice, Sarah trains project teams in both the legal analysis and technological aspects of document discovery, and manages teams of attorneys in witness deposition material preparation.

Her combination of legal, pharmaceutical and technology platform experience enables her to identify legal issues and synthesize relevant discovery, including scientific expert witness reports, for trial or dispositive motions.

Beyond her pharmaceutical practice, she analyzes court decisions and regulatory trends in the broader array of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) law regarding cosmetics, personal care products and dietary supplements.

Sarah earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center where she was senior editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal and was chosen as one of the few students to represent Georgetown in mock trial competitions.

She won acquittals in two misdemeanor trials in Virginia District Court after earning her third-year practice certificate. Through her work with the Georgetown Criminal Justice Clinic, Sarah represented clients in all aspects of criminal defense.

She developed early skills interviewing, counseling clients, conducting factual investigations and witness interviews, drafting and arguing motions, examining witnesses and arguing on behalf of her clients in the District of Columbia Superior Court and before the United States Parole Commission Board of Examiners.

After graduating from Georgetown, Sarah clerked for the Honorable Patricia D. Steele on the Superior Court of the United States Virgin Islands.
