Scott E. Atkinson is senior counsel in the San Francisco office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Mr. Atkinson is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department and the Trade Secrets, Computer Fraud & Non-Competes practice group. Mr. Atkinson is an experienced litigator and counselor who focuses his practice on helping employers efficiently resolve problems and implement practices that help avoid those problems in the first place.
He has experience with single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action litigation, and he frequently advises employers on best practices and compliance with employment laws and regulations. As trial counsel, Mr. Atkinson brings a pragmatic, creative and efficient approach to litigation, with his clients’ business objectives foremost in mind.
He represents clients in myriad federal and state courts and arbitral forums and has first-chair experience. Mr. Atkinson has particularly deep knowledge regarding trade secret misappropriation, employee mobility issues, and employment discrimination and retaliation.
Mr. Atkinson regularly defends employers from wage and hour class actions in state and federal courts, including misclassification, meal and rest break, overtime, expense reimbursement, wage statement, unfair competition, and other claims. Mr. Atkinson also helps employers across the country navigate compliance with the complex web of local employment regulations imposed by the City and County of San Francisco.
