Scott Jarratt helps clients both obtain and defend against technology-intensive patents. Drawing upon his industry experience and engineering education, Scott focuses his practice on the computer arts including software, networking, cloud-based computing, and computing hardware.
Scott actively represents clients in inter partes review trials and other post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. In particular, Scott has served as counsel for numerous prominent technology companies in inter partes review and covered business method review proceedings, and has hands-on experience with every stage of trial.
The proceedings in which Scott has served as counsel have involved a range of technologies including enterprise storage networks, mobile telephony, cloud-based backup and retrieval, subscriber television infrastructure and software, standard-essential cellular communications, navigation and mapping systems, and multimedia content streaming.
Scott also advises clients, both large and small, on patent prosecution strategies and patent portfolio matters. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a broad range of technological fields, including semiconductor devices and manufacturing, medical devices and processing, defense systems, optics, antenna systems, computer hardware and software, mobile applications, networking, and telecommunications.
Prior to attending law school, Scott was a software engineer at a Fortune 50 technology company where he developed enterprise security solutions.
