Sean W. Moran is the shareholder and serves on the board of directors of the law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC based in Greater Pittsburgh Area. He is an attorney and co-chair of the law firm’s oil and gas practice group, which the U.S. News has ranked as Tier 1 practice in 2011-12.
He focuses his practice on commercial issues and business transactions within the energy, oil & gas, and manufacturing industries. He also handles acreage swaps & exchanges, mineral title diligence projects, manufacturing, syndicated investment programs, debt and equity financings, mergers & acquisitions, corporate, etc.
He has represented clients in transactions with an aggregate value of over $15 billion in the past few years. Across the energy spectrum, he also handles activities such as joint ventures, power plant development projects, purchase & supply agreements of natural gas & NGL, etc.
He has handled acquisitions and divestitures of pipelines, gathering lines, processing & storage facilities as well as represented management teams raising capital to fund startup activities, commence operations and acquire assets.
Attorney Sean W. Moran also serves on the editorial advisory board of Energy Law360.com and the advisory board for the Institute for Energy Law. The Pittsburgh Business Times named him in the Who’s Who in Energy in Pittsburgh list in 2011 and 2012.

Sean Moran has obtained the license to practice law in the states Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Texas. He earned his Juris Doctorate and M.B.A. in the year 1995 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and the University of Pittsburgh respectively. In 1990, he completed his B.A. in Economics from the Syracuse University.
