Seth E. Snyder, Ph.D. is a patent agent in the intellectual property group. Dr. Snyder has assisted clients in building comprehensive patent portfolios. He has prepared and prosecuted U.S. patent applications and coordinated foreign prosecution for a variety of companies in the fields of medical chemistry, polymer chemistry, molecular biology, oncology, biofuels, materials chemistry and medical devices.
In particular, Dr. Snyder has actively advised clients in developing patent portfolios related to small molecule therapeutics (including antineoplastic agents and pain therapies), monoclonal antibodies, biofuels and personalized medicine. Dr. Snyder is also involved in validity, infringement and freedom to operate matters.
Through his work in these areas, Dr. Snyder has gained comprehensive experience in performing freedom to operate, clearance and invalidity searches and analyzing extensive patent portfolios. His clients range from small biotechnology start-ups to multinational pharmaceuticals.
A significant portion of Dr. Snyder’s work involves patent litigation support. Dr. Snyder has provided litigation support to a number of different clients in areas such as legal research, invalidity and non-infringement analyses, and claim construction. Additionally, Dr. Snyder has worked extensively with experts in a variety of technical backgrounds, and has assisted in developing expert reports and preparing tutorials for trials.
Prior to joining Dechert in 2011, Dr. Snyder was the head science advisor at an international law firm where his work included patent prosecution, patent opinions and supporting pharmaceutical clients in Hatch-Waxman litigations.
Before entering private practice, Dr. Snyder spent several years in academia developing new synthetic methods and designing and synthesizing potential drug candidates. He also previously served as a senior science advisor at a large international law firm. Dr. Snyder has several pending patent applications and multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
