BROWN Legal was founded in 2014 by Shad Brown, a native of Pueblo, Colorado. Shad has been a lawyer since 1995, and is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Arizona (currently inactive in Arizona).
Shad has previously worked as a sole practitioner, an intern with the City of Tucson (Arizona) City Attorney’s Office, a deputy county attorney in Apache County, Arizona, an assistant county attorney in El Paso County, Colorado, and most recently, a deputy district attorney for the Tenth Judicial District in Pueblo, Colorado.
While employed in government practice, Shad specialized in open meeting and open records law, contract and ordinance drafting and review, labor and employment issues, zoning and liquor enforcement, and general governmental representation of both elected officials and appointed bodies. Shad has also served as a misdemeanor and felony prosecutor in both Arizona and Colorado.
Shad believes in giving back to his community and state, having served as a volunteer coach in the Arizona and Colorado High School Mock Trial programs, as a member of the Board of Editors for both Arizona Attorney and Colorado Lawyer magazines, and currently as a member of the Bessemer Historical Society and of the Colorado Civil Air Patrol.
