Shane Young is an associate at Outten & Golden LLP in New York, and a member of the firm’s Individual Practice Group. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Mr. Young was a Fellow at the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), the labor union for NBA players.
While at the NBPA, Mr. Young drafted and negotiated contracts with league licensees and also represented players appealing disciplinary action imposed by the NBA.
Mr. Young received his B.A., magna cum laude from the University of California, Merced in 2010, and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2016.
During law school, Mr. Young worked on death penalty appeals both as an intern at the Federal Defenders in Little Rock, Arkansas and as a member of Berkeley Law’s Death Penalty Clinic.
As a student advocate at the East Bay Community Law Center’s Clean Slate Clinic Mr. Young also helped clients with record expungement. Before law school, Mr. Young worked as a paralegal for a criminal defense attorney in San Francisco.
