Sheldon E. Winters. Mr. Winters is a life-long resident of southeast Alaska, primarily Juneau. He is a cum laude graduate of Central Washington University (BA Economics), where he was awarded one of the University’s select legislative internships with the Washington State Legislature.
He graduated from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University) in 1985, where he was awarded the Manders Foundation Scholarship for the most outstanding Alaska student. Mr. Winters’ practice over the past 22 years has focused on civil trial work and alternative dispute resolution.
He has tried cases throughout Southeast Alaska and argued multiple cases before the Alaska Supreme Court. He represents various institutions, insurers and individuals throughout Southeast Alaska and is general counsel to a number of Alaska corporations.
He has significant experience representing clients with insurance disputes and regularly represents clients in their interactions with the Alaska Division of Insurance and before the Alaska Legislature.
He was recently asked to be the insurance industry representative for the Alaska Highway Safety Improvement Program. Mr. Winters has taught as an adjunct Professor at the University of Alaska Southeast and given various legal seminars to a variety of business groups.
He has worked as a Hearing Officer with the State of Alaska. Outside of his practice, Mr. Winters is very active in the Juneau community, being a member of various local boards including the local Little League Board (past President), Hospice Foundation (past President) and the Juneau and State Chamber of Commerce. He is a regular coach in local youth sports and spends his free time with his wife and two active children.
