Shiva Emrani

Shiva Emrani is counsel in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. A member of the Labor & Employment Department, she focuses her practice on litigating and mediating employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, whistle-blower, wrongful termination, and other labor and employment matters in both state and federal court.

Ms. Emrani also defends employers against wage and hour individual and putative class action lawsuits alleging failure to pay overtime wages and failure to provide meal and rest periods.

Additionally, Ms. Emrani defends employers in administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Employment Development Department (EDD), and federal, state, and local fair employment practice agencies.

Ms. Emrani has been successful in obtaining verdicts for her clients in binding arbitration, as well as securing dismissal on Summary Judgment at trial. Ms. Emrani is also experienced in trial preparation for jury and bench trials.

In an effort to avoid or limit single plaintiff and class action litigation against her clients, Ms. Emrani also provides advice and counsel to employers regarding compliance with state and federal employment laws including wage and hour, leave of absence, employee handbooks and personnel policies, and discipline/termination decisions.
