Shui Li

Shui Li is a registered patent attorney with experience counseling clients on complex intellectual property and technology monetization campaigns. Shui began her career as a chemist at the University of Minnesota where she researched anti-cancer agents based on nucleic acid analogs.

The scientific training allows Shui to successfully navigate complex patent matters involving a variety of technology areas including semiconductors, telecommunication, and chemistry.

Shui’s practice primarily focuses on patent litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation matters. She recently represented the petitioner in the first instituted derivation proceeding in the PTAB.

Shui is also active in her community. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Model Patent Jury Instructions Subcommittee, a representative of the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice’s Young Lawyers Group, and a supporter of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Shui attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. In law school, Shui was a senior editor for the International Law Journal, the President of the Intellectual Property Student Organization, and a judicial intern for the Honorable Justice Michael Gableman of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Shui grew up in Beijing, China and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She enjoys outdoor activities such as alpine and cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and long-distance running.
