Sonia Fleury is a senior associate who focuses her practice on government enforcement actions, cross-border internal investigations and complex litigation. She joined the firm after serving as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
She has represented clients in cases involving the US Department of Justice, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the US Department of Labor and other regulatory agencies.
Prior to obtaining her law degree, Ms. Fleury was a law clerk in the Office of General Counsel for the Regents of the University of California. Previously, Ms. Fleury was part of the trial team at the International Human Rights Law Clinic for a case before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights against the Guatemalan state for forced disappearance during the civil war.
As a student advocate at the California Asylum Representation Clinic, she successfully represented a Guatemalan client seeking political asylum. Ms. Fleury also worked on a death penalty direct appeal to a state supreme court as part of her law school’s Death Penalty Clinic. Ms. Fleury is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
