
Stephanie Chau’s practice focuses on complex business litigation and business formation matters. She represents institutional & individual clients across a wide range of commercial, financial, and shareholder disputes, including litigation of trade secret misappropriation, privacy, defamation, fraud, bankruptcy, contract, discovery, and evidentiary issues in federal, bankruptcy and state court.
Stephanie manages case strategy from its inception and often negotiates the early resolution of matters. She has significant experience litigating substantive and dispositive issues through motion practice and handling hearings, trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Stephanie’s experience also includes coordinating and maintaining direct client communication with outside and local counsel on multi-jurisdictional and foreign issues.
Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Stephanie was a litigation associate with Salisian Lee, LLP in Los Angeles, CA. Previously, Stephanie was a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of California, where she handled cases through all phases of litigation.
While working as a special assistant U.S. attorney, she chaired several federal jury trials, handled numerous appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and appeared in federal court hundreds of times. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Chau was an associate at a large investment firm.
Stephanie earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was an Editorial Board Member for the San Diego International Law Journal. She received her B.S. from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.
