Stephen D. Lott is an associate in the Intellectual Property department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Chicago office. Mr. Lott specializes in trademark portfolio management, clearance, and prosecution. He also represents clients in intellectual property litigation in federal and state courts, as well as in proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Mr. Lott is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Intellectual Property, where he works on projects involving the drafting of resolutions to Congress and to the USPTO concerning emerging issues in trademark law.
In addition, Mr. Lott serves as a volunteer attorney at John Marshall Law School’s pro bono trademark clinic in Chicago, wherein he supervises law students’ clearance and prosecution of trademark applications on behalf of startup businesses and individual entrepreneurs.
Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Mr. Lott worked as an associate at a boutique IP firm in Chicago, where he represented a variety of corporate clients in domestic and international intellectual property procurement and protection.
While in law school, Mr. Lott served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Florida Journal of International Law and as the Managing Editor of the Journal of Technology Law & Policy. He also completed clerkships for the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, and a small North Florida law firm specializing in regulatory compliance and white collar defense.
