Stephen A. Mao is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on intellectual property matters including preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications for a variety of semiconductor and computer-related technologies. He has particular technical knowledge in semiconductor fabrication processes and devices, semiconductor equipment and software, computer processor packaging, display systems, integrated circuitry, LED devices, and electrical device technologies.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mao worked as an associate in the patent practice group of a national law firm in its Silicon Valley office where he provided patent related services including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and other general intellectual property services.
During law school, Mr. Mao served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Joseph J. Halbach Jr. for the 333rd District Civil Court in Houston, Texas.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Mao worked as a Failure Analysis Engineer in the flash memory department at Samsung for three years where he pinpointed root causes of device failures, created diagnostic programs for test equipment, and published a research paper relating to a novel method of increasing memory device reliability. While at Samsung, Mr. Mao received the Samsung Spot Award for his achievements in 2008.
Mr. Mao is conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
