Steven Alan McKinley started his legal career as an associate with the law firm Dorman & Dorman and worked there from 1979 to 1981. He went on to serve as Deputy City Attorney in the City of San Diego and handled issues concerning Public Entity Immunity; Personal Injury; Public Utility Law for two years till 1983.
He joined the law firm Asaro Keagy Freeland & McKinley as a partner in 1988 and became the Managing Partner of his current law firm Freeland, McKinley, & McKinley in 2011.
