Steve advocates for clients in all aspects of patent property law across a variety of technologies.
With an intellectual property practice encompassing mechanical devices, remote monitoring and control systems, telecommunications systems, e-commerce services and financial services, Steve advises clients on complex issues of claim construction, infringement, and validity in both patent litigation and post-grant review proceedings. He also provides advice to clients on patent portfolio management and strategy.
Steve’s clients come from a broad array of technology sectors and include medical device manufacturers, consumer goods retailers, financial institutions, computer and software technology companies, and e-commerce technology providers.
He has significant patent litigation experience in the Eastern District of Texas, the District of Delaware, and the Eastern District of Virginia. He has also participated in several Federal Circuit appeals.
Additionally, Steve has significant patent prosecution and post-grant proceeding experience with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to joining the firm, and following graduation from the United States Naval Academy, Steve served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy from 1992 to 2004.
From 2004 to 2007, he worked at Strategic Insight, Ltd, supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command on Navy shipbuilding programs. Steve joined the firm as a patent clerk in 2007 while earning his law degree from George Washington University Law School.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
