Steven E. Warner is an intellectual property attorney who focuses on patent application writing, prosecution, counseling, licensing, and enforcement. Steven also renders validity, patentability, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions – primarily in the mechanical, electrical, and chemical arts.
He has been involved in various patent litigations, reexaminations, reissues, and interferences, and has represented clients in appeals and inter partes reviews (IPRs) before the Patent Trial and Appeals Board (PTAB).
He has particular expertise in patent claim drafting. He also has extensive experience in procuring trademark registrations; he represents clients in the U.S. and internationally.
Steven has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in various technologies, including personal care, air care, home cleaning, and home storage devices and products.
He also has experience in semiconductor wafer photolithography and circuit pattern alignment, magnetic and magneto-optical recording devices, laser beam recording, ink jet and bubble jet printing, photocopying, photography, thin-film transistors, textiles, building products, industrial filtration, fluid dispensing, paper making and paper products, fluidized bed combustion, industrial furnace and boiler technology, and fire protection sprinklers and related products.
Prior to entering private practice, Steven was a primary examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he worked in heat, fluid power, combustion, incineration, drying, refrigeration, cryogenic distillation, valves, and internal combustion engine technologies, among others.
He also has extensive experience in trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, notably in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
