Tammy Roe practices in the area of labor and employment law. She advises employers regarding wage and hour issues, discipline and discharge, insurance coverage, construction and enforceability of employment contracts, employee policy manuals and covenants not to compete, as well as a myriad of other issues. Ms. Roe also represents employees and independent contractors with respect to such matters as workplace harassment, wrongful discharge, unpaid overtime and negotiation of severance packages.
On the litigation side, Ms. Roe handles administrative charges before federal, state and local governmental agencies (such as the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Washington State Human Rights Commission, the Department of Labor and Industries and the Employment Security Department), and all types of employment-related civil lawsuits involving such claims as wrongful discharge, discrimination (based on sex, race, national origin, age, disability, pregnancy, religion and marital status), unlawful retaliation, sexual harassment (hostile environment and quid pro quo), wage and hour issues (minimum wage, overtime, safety, and other workplace regulations), workers’ compensation and unemployment benefits. She also handles union grievances and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board.
On the transactional side, Ms. Roe drafts, revises and advises clients regarding employee handbooks, personnel policies and procedures, employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, non-competition covenants, personnel files, employee benefits, and separation/resignation agreements and releases.
A large part of her practice consists of advising employer clients on such personnel matters as overtime exemptions, industrial injuries, workplace harassment, disability accommodation, and employee discipline and discharge.
Ms. Roe’s practice also includes representation of physicians and physician groups, not only in connection with personnel issues and agreements to purchase practices or share office space and expenses, but also in connection with lawsuits against their employers or fellow partners or members. She also represents physicians with respect to hospital privilege issues and ethical proceedings before the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission.
