Teofilo Javier Jr. is a registered patent attorney. His practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of biotechnology patent applications in a range of areas, including RNA interference, peptides having osteoinductive properties, antibodies, vaccines and tissue implants. Mr. Javier has drafted and prosecuted U.S. and international patent applications.
He assists a wide variety of clients, ranging from start-up companies with emerging biotechnologies to large academic research institutions, in obtaining patent protection and maximizing patent term. He also performs patent landscape reviews and due diligence work for clients entering clinical trials.
Mr. Javier has industry and research experience, having worked in biotechnology for seven years prior to attending law school. He has experience in a number of scientific environments and has practical experience in performing research and development for diagnostic and biotechnology companies.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Javier was a development specialist with Shire Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His work involved the development and optimization of immunoassays as well as performing testing in support of pharmaceutical and analytical development.
Before joining Shire, Mr. Javier worked in the research and development department of Matritech Inc., a cancer diagnostic company in Newton, Massachusetts.
