Teresa Biviano

Teresa M. Biviano is an associate in Venable’s Labor and Employment Practice in the New York office. During law school, Teresa was a student attorney in the Civil Rights Clinic at the Institute for Public Representation, where she managed litigation case files; discovery matters; client correspondence; and drafted legal memoranda, motions to the federal district court, and letters to opposing counsel for a Title IX-related matter.

She also served as a legal intern in the Workplace Programs Division at a non-profit advocacy organization for women and families.

In this capacity, she conducted statutory and regulatory research for workplace-related programs at the state and federal levels; drafted legal memorandum on Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) federal appeals courts’ jurisprudence; and counseled employers and employees with questions pertaining to the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and relevant state leave laws.

Teresa also served as managing editor of The Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics during law school, and she is published therein. Teresa has four years of professional experience in higher education administration through her work as the assistant director of a Registrar’s Department prior to attending law school.

In her role as assistant registrar, Teresa’s work included managing data and student record confidentiality matters related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); curriculum, student record files, and enterprise system database maintenance; policy and curriculum change implementation; and academic counseling.

Teresa is involved in Venable’s Pro Bono program, including representing pro bono clients in connection with asylum applications.
