Theresa Rakocy focuses her practice on intellectual property issues, including patent infringement litigation, patent prosecution and opinion work. She has experience preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patents in a variety of technical fields, including software and electrical computer arts with particular expertise in wireless mobile communication technology, medical diagnostic and monitoring systems, clinical workflow management systems, document preparation and management workflow, and digital imaging technologies.
She prepares patent applications, conducts legal research and provides technological advice in support of validity, infringement, and patentability analyses, patent application preparation and litigation matters. Theresa also assists with trademark portfolio management including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the US Trademark Office and performs extensive corporate IP due diligence.
Theresa currently serves on the Board of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association as the 8th District Trustee and is a member of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association.
Prior to joining the firm, Theresa was an associate with a Cleveland-based intellectual property firm, where she handled all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution and trademark prosecution for clients. She also previously worked for an industrial automation company as a project manager where she managed new hardware development projects.
