Theron M. “Tad” vanDusen understands and appreciates the strategic thinking and up-tempo execution that is needed for companies to prosper. Consequently, he brings an entrepreneurial bent to his interactions with health care, information technology, manufacturing and government contractor clients on a variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity finance transactions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, technology agreements and representations of U.S. subsidiaries of foreign parent companies.
Tad’s keen awareness of what can enhance – and detract from – a company’s bottom line, and of the importance of proactively addressing legal and other risk issues, informs his approach. Once an engagement begins, he seeks to identify and solve issues in a straightforward manner to help avoid more complicated, time-consuming and expensive problems later. He aims to afford his clients an opportunity to focus instead on uncovering and assessing opportunities that can lead to growth and increased profitability.
Tad is admitted to practice in North Carolina. He is a member of the Business and Tax Law sections of both the North Carolina and American Bar Associations. Tad is a member (and former board member) of the North Carolina Defense Business Association (NCDBA) and is active in the Entrepreneurs Organization (formerly YEO), the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) and the Licensing Executives Society.
In addition, Tad serves on the board of directors of Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers (TROSA), where he chairs the Finance and Operations Committee. A University of Pennsylvania graduate, Tad received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude. He received his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from Duke University.
