Thomas W. Dollinger is a partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups. He began his career in 1978 in the New York office, and relocated in 1984 to the Los Angeles office when the firm’s practice required an experienced business lawyer.
In 2012, Tom relocated to London to act as head of the London office, a role he held until 2015 when he relocated his practice back to Los Angeles. Tom has extensive experience representing business entities, including private equity funds and their portfolio companies, in a variety of significant transactions. He has broad experience in the acquisition and sale of businesses and investment transactions.
He has been responsible for structuring and completing a number of acquisitions, divestitures and investment transactions in diverse industries, including manufacturing, investment management, professional services, oil refining and banking. These transactions have involved both healthy and financially troubled companies.
In today’s complex business and regulatory world, the corporate partner in a business acquisition or significant transaction must manage lawyers from other specialties as well as other advisors and keep the team moving to the finish line in an efficient and cohesive fashion.
This requires excellent legal, business, organizational and people skills which Tom has developed over his years of practice. One of the things that attracted Tom to corporate law was the integration of law and business and the opportunity to help a client accomplish the business goal.
Tom recognizes the importance of understanding and executing on the business objective in an efficient and timely way. That understanding plays a central role in how Tom approaches a transaction, and, with the skills and experience Tom has acquired over more than 25 years of practice, allows him to manage a transaction to closing in an efficient manner.
