Thomas S. Galey (Tom) worked as in-house counsel at a financial services company which he joined during its Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings. He then worked as a creditors’ rights lawyer representing secured lenders, and that role evolved into his current one as a finance transactions lawyer.
Tom focuses his practice on debt financing and secured transactions, including origination of asset-based and acquisition financing, leveraged finance and other lending transactions. He has handled the structuring and documenting of large syndicated transactions and single lender credit facilities involving both public and private entities. He also has experience, both as lender’s and borrower’s counsel, with secured and unsecured loans to middle market companies.
Other focus areas are commercial credit restructurings and corporate reorganization. He has participated in precedent-setting litigation in bankruptcy cases addressing issues of collateral perfection and retention of professionals. Clients who engage Tom for a finance transaction appreciate his legal advice, his attentive and responsive manner and the congenial way in which he works with all involved.
The finance practice presents the opportunity to work with the same client contacts over the course of numerous transactions. Tom genuinely enjoys the working relationships that have developed over the years, and credits these connections as the main reason he continues to work in the finance area.
