Tiffany Palmer Bell is a registered patent attorney and associate in the firm’s intellectual property practice. She primarily represents clients in U.S. and international patent prosecution and litigation, though she also has experience in patent opinion practice, licensing, due diligence, and trademark matters.
Tiffany procures patent protection for her clients by drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the chemical, mechanical, and material arts. She has gained considerable experience in technology areas including nutraceuticals, oil and gas, consumer goods, and industrial manufacturing machinery.
She also helps clients build strong patent portfolios through client counseling and the provision of patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement and invalidity opinions.
Tiffany also participates in patent litigation matters in district courts and has experience before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in Inter Partes Review proceedings.
Before starting her legal career, Tiffany worked as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she examined hundreds of patent applications for clean energy, petroleum refining, and medical device technologies.
Tiffany also worked in technology transfer at the University of Alabama, where she assisted professors and startups with assessing the patentability, marketability, and technical feasibility of their inventions.
She interned with the legal department at the Coca-Cola Company, where she gained experience in patenting beverage compositions, and supported the company’s global trademark team.
As a law student, Tiffany received CALI Awards for Best Paper in Legal Ethics & Professional Responsibility and Capital Defense. Tiffany was inducted into both the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and the Order of the Barristers.
She competed as a member of the IP moot court program, winning the International Trademark Association’s regional competition and awards for best brief and best oral argument. Tiffany also served as a senior editor for the Alabama Civil Rights & Civil Liberties Law Review.
Tiffany received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University, where she made the Dean’s List, and conducted biotechnology research at Vanderbilt’s Medical Center.
