Timothy Shawn Bird graduated from Virginia Tech at the top of his class, receiving his undergraduate degree with honors. Tim went on to receive his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA and began practicing law in 1995.
In his early career, Tim was a partner in a large Northern Virginia law firm where, in addition to having a private practice, he served as a Commissioner in Chancery, Motions Conciliator, and Neutral Case Evaluator for the 19th Judicial District.
In 2003, Tim felt he could better serve the people and businesses in his community by leaving the lofty halls of “big firm” practice to return to beautiful Southwest Virginia and open his own law practice.
With GBSR Attorneys, Tim focuses a large portion of his practice in Family Law, including divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, and property distribution. Just a few short years after returning to Southwest Virginia, Tim became one of the leading family law attorneys in the region.
In recognition of his contributions to this area of the law, in 2009 Tim was selected by his peers as one of the top attorneys in the Roanoke Valley in the field of Juvenile Law. Also, starting in 2012, Tim was selected as a “SuperLawyer” in the field of Family Law, and recently was selected as a Distinguished Lawyer by the Expert Network.
