Former Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the US government, Tony Scott assists clients with all aspects of cyber compliance, from starting up a comprehensive governance program, evaluating technical controls and prioritizing cyber risk, to preparing for and responding to a cybersecurity incident.
Tony’s deep understanding of IT organizations will help clients bridge the gap between legal cybersecurity requirements/industry standards and implementation of IT controls. Tony was inducted in CIO Magazine’s Hall of Fame in 2009 and named one of the top 25 most influential CTOs by Infoworld Magazine.
Tony works with our Public Policy team to help clients respond to new laws and regulations implemented by governments around the world. Tony’s knowledge and experience will enable clients to take advantage of new business opportunities and avoid harmful consequences of those initiatives by engaging early with policy makers, legislators and regulators.
Prior to joining the firm, Tony held numerous leadership roles in the technology, media and entertainment, automotive, pharmaceutical and consulting industries where he focused on data governance, cybersecurity, technology improvement and optimization and IT risk management.
President Obama appointed Tony as the US government’s CIO in 2015. He was responsible for management guidance, budget oversight, IT governance, cybersecurity coordination and strategy for the Executive Branch.
His achievements included implementing an overhaul of federal IT policy, creating the first ever government-wide open source policy, and leading the government’s response to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) cyber intrusions through initiatives that ultimately led to the President’s Cybersecurity National Action Plan.
