Trista McElhaney is an associate attorney the Burnham Law Firm. She started to work at the firm in March 2015. In 2012, Trista earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado Law School. She was licensed and admitted to the Colorado Bar in October of that year.
Trista was a student at the University of Denver where she completed her undergraduate studies. In 2008, she earned her B.S. in Economics. As a law student, Trista acquired invaluable experience in litigation while working at a small law firm that is focused on the areas of commercial and civil litigation.
Ms McElhaney was also a volunteer at Colorado Legal Services. Her passion for family law started after serving as an intern in the domestic division of the 18th Judicial District at her second year as a student in law school.
At her third year in law school, she served as a student lawyer for the University of Colorado’s Family Law Clinic. She was the recipient of the Anheuser-Busch Minoru Yasui Scholarship from the Asian Pacific American Bar Association in 2010 in recognition of her character and service to the community of Asians.
Ms McElhaney was the recipient of both the Joel H. Greenstein Scholarship and the Harold Taft King Scholarship in 2011. Her area of practice is concentrated on personal injury and family law. She is actively a member of the Colorado Bar Association. She is also a member of the the Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
