Vanessa Bailey focuses her practice on commercial litigation, construction, negligence and real estate matters. She also has experience defending clients in the areas of mortgage banking, financial services risk management, franchise law and title insurance.
Prior to joining Resnick Law, Vanessa gained corporate experience working in-house as the Assistant General Counsel to a local real estate development company in Michigan. Before that, Vanessa gained significant courtroom and legal research and writing experience at one of Detroit’s prominent mid-sized law firms with a national practice, and at a boutique business law firm where she began her career as an associate attorney.
Vanessa has extensive nationwide experience in complex legal research and writing, as well as in all aspects of litigation including pre-suit dispute resolution, motion practice, facilitation/settlement, and recommending risk management solutions to prevent future disputes.
Vanessa comes from a family legacy of entrepreneurs in real estate development and construction. Working as in-house counsel has provided Vanessa with a unique perspective as she understands the internal functions, pressures, and needs of a business while balancing legalities, risk factors, and potential disputes when entering into a contract or transaction.
Vanessa believes in using a hands-on, proactive approach to obtain the best results for her clients. She focuses on obtaining positive, cost-effective results while ensuring the overall well-being of her clients and their businesses.
Vanessa received her JD from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan in May 2014. She is admitted to practice in the State of Michigan and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
While in law school, Vanessa served as a Judicial Intern to Judge Colleen O’Brien while on the bench in the Oakland County Circuit Court, who was subsequently appointed to the Michigan Court of Appeals Second District in October 2015.
Vanessa also served as the Treasurer for the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and a volunteer student attorney for the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Project while in law school.
Prior to law school, Vanessa was recruited by the University of Hawaii’s Women’s Soccer Team her junior year of high school and received a full, four-year athletic scholarship. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii with dual majors in Finance and International Business. Vanessa has yet to hang up her cleats, as she continues to play soccer in a competitive co-ed league on Thursday nights.
