Virginia D. Hiner is an associate in the firm’s communications and information technology practice. Ms. Hiner represents a range of clients in the telecommunications and technology industry, including wireless companies, media content providers, industry associations, service providers and investors.Ms. Hiner assists clients on a variety of matters involving the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), including regulatory licensing, rulemaking and compliance. She also advises clients on their obligations under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and on spectrum-related issues, including spectrum leasing agreements. Additionally, Ms. Hiner has experience in conducting due diligence in transactions involving FCC-regulated entities, and assists clients with the FCC regulatory approval process in acquisitions of FCC licensees.
Ms. Hiner earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School in 2018, Order of the Coif, where she served as student writing editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. Prior to joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Ms. Hiner served as the administrative coordinator for another firm’s pro pono program. She earned her B.A. in art history from Barnard College in 2012.Licensed to practice in Tennessee only and under the supervision of the partners of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
