Tyler Melling is a Cedar City estate planning attorney specializing in wills, living trusts, and probate. When not practicing law, Tyler is either spending time with his family, volunteering with the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, participating in the Cedar City music community, teaching Legal Studies courses like Estate Planning & Probate at Southern Utah University, or helping a friend prune their landscape trees.
Tyler Melling was born and raised in Texas, but he returned to his roots in Cedar City to attend SUU, where he met his wife in the Opus Chamber Choir after serving an LDS mission in Slovakia. He graduated in 2012 in Economics with a minor in music performance.
After his time at SUU, Tyler attended the University of Iowa College of Law to take advantage of their top-rated corporate law journal, estate planning courses, and estate planning clinical opportunities.
He spent his first summer in Cedar City performing research for Judge G. Michael Westfall and his second summer enrolled in an independent study program, for which he wrote a 60-page report on the Snake Valley, Utah water proposals.
Tyler’s law school experience also included a study abroad program in Arcachon, France, serving as a contributing member of the Journal of Corporation Law editorial board, and clinical experience in estate planning, foreclosures, and family law.
Tyler received his Juris Doctor with High Service Honors in December of 2014 and moved back to Cedar City to raise his family and open his law practice. He loves helping others in whatever way they need help, whether to find a connection, fulfill a legal need, help their business grow, or with gardening advice.
