Wayne provides a wide range of legal services, including in areas such as personal injury, criminal law, litigation, family law, wrongful death, landlord-tenant disputes, employment law, civil rights claims, and estate planning.
He began practicing law in St. George, Utah as an Assistant Attorney General for the Utah Attorney General’s Office. In 2003, Wayne accepted a position with the Washington County Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted many high-profile, complex felony cases.
In fact, Wayne was in the office when the rape charges were filed against Warren Jeffs. In 2006, Wayne left Washington County to accept an associate attorney position with Stirba & Associates in Salt Lake City, Utah.
While in Salt Lake City, he practiced in the areas of civil rights litigation involving excessive force by police officers and in criminal defense. In 2007, Wayne left Salt Lake to return to Cache Valley and take a position with the former firm of Bearnson & Peck in Logan, Utah. Finally, in 2011, Wayne co-founded Bearnson & Caldwell, LLC and practices law there as a partner.
In the area of personal injury, Wayne has been involved in many injury cases where clients have collected monies owed to them by insurance companies in several different states. Wayne has also been involved in many high-profile criminal state and federal cases and has effectively represented many accused individuals in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona.
Some of Wayne’s clients have seen serious felonies dismissed after he became involved in their cases, and many more have seen significant reductions in their charges. Finally, Wayne has represented several public employees that have been able to return to their jobs after they were wrongfully terminated.
Wayne is licensed to practice law in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona. Wayne is also a member of the Utah Association for Justice and the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is an active member of the Cache County Bar Association.
