Wes Gerrie defends corporations and large businesses in negligence, premises liability, product liability, and other tort claims, working closely with members of the firm’s Corporate Services and Commercial Litigation practice to deliver cost-effective defenses and global solutions based on each client’s business model, immediate needs, and long-term objectives.
He also works with clients in health care, including extensive work within the long-term care industry, handling both individual and class actions involving medical malpractice, negligence, catastrophic injury, and death.
His experience includes representing municipal clients, handling matters involving general liability and zoning. In addition, Wes handles sports and entertainment matters involving general liability, tort defense, and defamation, and is a regular contributor to the firm’s award-winning Sports and Entertainment Law Insider blog.
Wes graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law, where he was a member of the Justinian Honor Society, a member of the Student Leadership Committee, and executive editor of the Syracuse Law Review; he was also a recipient of the Law Review Distinguished Leadership Award and the Student Organization Award.
Wes served as public relations and social media chair, vice president, and finally president of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society, and took 2nd Place in the 2015 International Hockey Arbitration Competition.
He was also a Student Mentor, a Head Academic Success Fellow, and a member of the SUCOL Ice Hockey Team. Following graduation, he was elected to the Order of the Coif. Before entering law school, Wes earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Brand Management and Marketing from Wilfrid Laurier University.
At Laurier he was McDonald House Residence Vice President, a WLU Student Ambassador, executive chair member of the Sports Management Club, and a member of the Laurier Law Society.
Before earning his law degree and passing the bar, Wes was a summer associate with Goldberg Segalla, where he focused on general liability, intellectual property, and business and commercial matters in the retail, hospitality, and sports and entertainment industries.
He also assisted with negligence and tort issues in construction cases and worked on product liability and business and commercial matters.
