William M. (Will) Atherton practices corporate law, with a primary focus on securities, M&A, regulation of financial institutions, payments, and financial technology. He regularly advises clients on a wide range of transactional, regulatory, and strategic matters, including broker-dealer, investment company and investment advisor acquisitions and regulation, bank holding company formations and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, payment processing agreements, FINRA and SEC filings, and banking and financial institution regulation.
Will advises clients on the regulatory development of emerging payment products and financial technology, including blockchain and cryptocurrencies, as well as compliance with payments and financial technology regulations and licensing.
In addition, Will advises foreign and domestic financial institutions in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and capital raising activities. He provides regulatory advice to financial institution clients, general commercial counseling for banks, and disclosure counseling for publicly traded clients.
