
William Bornstein is a litigator who focuses his practice on a wide range of complex disputes between businesses. Will has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants from a variety of industries (including healthcare, telecommunications, internet technology, and food and beverage) in high-stakes breach of contract, patent, and antitrust cases.
William currently represents various healthcare plans in multi-million-dollar litigation with providers involving claims improper billing, breach of contract, and fraud.
Will also leads the firm’s pro bono efforts on veterans’ issues, and has started a program designed to help veterans who have been unjustly discharged from the armed services correct their records and gain access to the benefits they have earned.
Kraft Foods Group, Inc./Mondelez International, Inc. v. Starbucks Coffee Company: Counsel representing Kraft in a three-year arbitration regarding a breach of contract after Starbucks unilaterally terminated its agreement, cutting off Kraft’s exclusive rights to sell, market and distribute Starbucks roast and ground coffee in grocery and other retail outlets. The arbitration resulted in a $2.7 billion cash award to Kraft.
Hubbard Broadcasting v. DIRECTV: Counsel representing Hubbard Broadcasting in a breach of contract dispute regarding Hubbard’s direct broadcast satellite rights on DIRECTV. Efforts obtain injunctive relief resulted in decision granting partial summary judgment to Hubbard that upheld Hubbard’s contract rights and preserved the Hubbard family’s ability to continue broadcasting its networks.
