Mr. William Hurles focuses his practice on intellectual property law, primarily in patent law with an emphasis on the mechanical arts. He represents numerous firm clients from a variety of fields, including the automotive industry. He provides patent prosecution support at all stages, including the preparation of patent applications, responses and appeal briefs.
He also conducts patentability and clearance searches, provides patentability opinions, patent validity opinions, freedom to operate opinions, and patent infringement opinions. Additionally, he supports clients in U.S. post grant patent challenging proceedings, including Ex-Parte Reexaminations and Inter Partes Reviews. Beyond his patent work, he also provides legal opinions and registration support for trademarks and copyrights.
Outside of his primary practice, Mr. Hurles volunteers his time to participate in panel discussions and informational sessions on intellectual property issues with students, start-up companies and non-profit organizations. He also represents the firm’s pro bono clients in intellectual property related matters.
