William L. Grant

William L. Grant is a partner in the Orlando office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group. He’s one of less than 250 attorneys in the state with Florida Bar board certification in construction law.

William has tried many jury trials, bench trials and arbitration proceedings. His practice includes commercial litigation with a focus on construction and surety law, including construction liens, delay claims, water intrusion, breach of contract, and other complex construction and commercial litigation matters. He also has wide-ranging experience with construction contract preparation and negotiation.

William’s focus on this specialized field has allowed him to work closely with clients on a diverse range of issues. His work includes construction litigation, litigation avoidance, bid protests, contract negotiations, licensing, and other construction issues.

He has also handled many successful appeals in both state and federal courts of appeal and has numerous published opinions. Clients from across the state include contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, sureties, public and private owners/developers, and construction material suppliers.

William is a frequent speaker at seminars on various issues affecting the construction industry. Recent topics have included the Florida Construction Lien Law, construction contracts, delay and disruption claims, construction defect claims, public contracting, bonding, legislative issues and collections on behalf of construction material suppliers. He has also published numerous articles on construction topics for bar and construction trade association publications.
