William G. McMaster, Jr. is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner LLP. As a member of the firm’s Commercial Transactions & Business Counseling and Transactional & Securities Practices, his practice focused on the organization, acquisition, financing, and disposition of businesses.
Mr. McMaster represented several venture capital companies with respect to their organization, funding, and initial investments; represented both buyers and sellers in a number of stock, asset, or cash merger acquisitions of various businesses; counseled private investors in privately-placed investments; and advised businesses on a wide range of general business and financing matters.
His experience also included the representation of governments in long-term service contracts and major equipment purchases and of private parties in government contracts.
In recognition of his achievements, Mr. McMaster was Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review rating system.
Mr. McMaster received his law degree from Northwestern University (J.D., cum laude, 1973), where he was a member of the Law Review board of editors and the Order of the Coif. He received his undergraduate degree from Miami University (B.A., cum laude), where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. McMaster was admitted to the bar in Illinois and a member of both the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
