Wilson S. Neely is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department. Wilson practices primarily in the mergers and acquisitions area and also in the capital markets area. He has worked on numerous private equity transactions, including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and strategic partnerships between private equity funds and corporate partners. In addition, he has overseen a number of initial public offerings, involving both common stock and high yield securities.
The Legal 500 United States named Wilson a “Leading Lawyer” in 2015. He has also been named a Band 1 private equity lawyer by Chambers USA every year since 2008. Wilson was also recognized in 2009 by the AmLaw Daily as a “Dealmaker of the Week” for leading the Simpson Thacher team that helped Blackstone consummate the $2.7 billion leveraged buyout of AB InBev’s Busch Entertainment amusement park business, including SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. At the time, The American Lawyer recognized it as one of the biggest leveraged buyout deals since the beginning of the market downturn in mid-2007.
Wilson joined Simpson Thacher in 1982 and became a Partner in 1991. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1978 and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas Law School in 1982. Wilson serves on the boards of ReadWorks, myFace and Historic Hudson Valley. He is also a member of the board of trustees for the University of Texas Law School Foundation.
