Beyond just legal counsel, Zachary P. Madden works hard to get to know each of his clients and their needs, and to put himself in their shoes. His approach has made him a trusted, personal adviser to companies across a variety of industries from manufacturing and insurance to food, healthcare, and real estate.
Zach brings his relational, solutions-oriented approach to his service as the relationship partner for Welltower Inc., one of the firm’s largest clients. He coordinates with the firm’s many practice groups—including real estate, litigation, employment, environmental, intellectual property, and tax—from all of its offices to serve Welltower’s needs.
He also serves as general outside counsel for variety of clients with few in-house attorneys, allowing these clients to rest easy about legal matters and focus on running their businesses. He works hard to understand the intricacies of each client’s business and the pressures and problems they face, which allows him to respond to the client’s needs in a practical and efficient way. In doing so, Zach regularly advises clients on general corporate matters, including:
- Entity formation
- Reorganizations
- Business succession
- Contract negotiations
- Financing transactions
Clients also rely on Zach to represent them in their capital-raising efforts. He, for example, has substantial experience representing issuers in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, and regularly counsels clients on matters of securities regulation and reporting.
Zach actively serves in firm leadership positions. He currently leads the firm’s Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) practice group and is a member of its Finance Committee. Zach’s background is in post-Renaissance English literature (before it was cool).
