A. Imtiaz Billah is a patent agent in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s San Diego (Del Mar) office. Mr. Billah performs tasks pertaining to patent preparation and prosecution. Technical areas of focus include: social media; computer software; wireless communication methods; integrated circuits; semiconductor processing; and advanced materials.
Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Billah was a patent agent at IBM. At IBM, he gained extensive experience drafting the specifications, drawings, and claims for patent applications; corresponding with U.S. and international inventors; and filing timely responses to Office Actions.
Before embarking upon a career in patent law, Mr. Billah worked as a chemist in various industrial and academic settings. He became well versed in synthetic preparation of organic compounds, transition metal complexes, and polymers; spectroscopic characterization; and reactivity studies.
