
Alison F. Karol is a litigator in the San Francisco office of Munger, Tolles & Olson. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Karol served as a law clerk to Judge Jon S. Tigar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and to Judge Jane L. Kelly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Ms. Karol earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School, where she was designated a Kirkland & Ellis Scholar and graduated with pro bonodistinction. At Stanford, Ms. Karol participated in the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic and was a semifinalist in the Marion Rice Kirkwood Moot Court Competition.
She also served as an extern to Judge Marsha S. Berzon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and to the City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco. Ms. Karol received her undergraduate degree in history, summa cum laude, from UCLA, where she also completed a music history minor and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
