
Ana Romes is an associate and litigation lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice.Ms. Romes previously worked as a litigation associate at a Miami-based law firm, where she was involved in mass litigation projects and class action lawsuits.
She also worked as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Robert N. Scola, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and as an appellate judicial clerk to The Honorable Dorian K. Damoorgian of the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal.
During law school, Ms. Romes gained experience as a certified legal intern with the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Division of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and as a legal intern for the Commercial Litigation Branch of the Department of Justice’s Civil Division, for the National Women’s Law Center’s Family Economic Security Program, and for the Family Law Unit at Coast to Coast Legal Aid.
She also served as a student advocate for the Immigration Clinic and a research assistant to Professor Caroline Bettinger-López.Prior to law school, Ms. Romes worked as a victim advocate for the City of Miami Police Department.
Education :
Ms. Romes earned her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2012), where she was named to the Order of the Coif, received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement in international criminal law, became a member of the University of Miami Law Review, served as both a Writing Dean’s Fellow and a teaching assistant for constitutional law, and won first place in the John T. Gaubatz 1L Moot Court Competition.
She also served as a member of the Faculty Curriculum Committee and Public Interest Leadership Board, secretary for the Miami Chapter of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, and a student researcher for the American Bar Association Section of International Law Africa Committee.
Ms. Romes received her master of fine arts degree in drama and theatre for youth and communities from The University of Texas at Austin (M.F.A., 2003) and received her bachelor’s degree in theatre arts from Gettysburg College (B.A., magna cum laude, 1994).
