Angela Klemack Santos practices in the area of private client wealth planning and tax. Ms. Santos advises U.S. and non-U.S. high net worth individuals, families, business owners and their advisors with respect to the design and implementation of tax minimizing and wealth transfer planning strategies, addressing U.S. income and transfer taxes, domestic and international estate planning, pre-immigration planning, tax compliance, asset protection and business succession planning.
She also advises fiduciaries and individuals regarding the tax treatment and reporting obligations of foreign trusts with assets or beneficiaries located in the U.S. Additionally, Ms. Santos advises personal representatives/executors and trustees on complex estate and trust administration and postmortem planning.
Her practice includes preparation of wills, revocable trusts and irrevocable trusts, marital agreements, sophisticated trusts, such as dynasty trusts, intentionally defective grantor irrevocable trusts (IDGITs), beneficiary defective irrevocable trusts (BDITs), irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), incomplete non-grantor trusts (INGs), first-party and third-party supplemental needs trusts (SNTs), lifetime spousal trusts, domestic and offshore asset protection trusts, charitable trusts and foundations, and family limited liability companies and limited partnerships (FLLCs and FLPs).
Her practice also includes trust administration matters, modifying trusts, structuring new trusts, decanting, and transferring existing trusts to Florida.
Ms. Santos is admitted to practice in Florida, New York and Connecticut. She is a 2016 graduate of the inaugural class of the Florida Fellows Institute of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”).
She is a 2016-2018 Fellow of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law (“RPPTL”) Section of The Florida Bar. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, where she earned an LL.M. in Taxation, and Syracuse University College of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of The Labor Lawyer, an ABA publication. She is also a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she was a Morrill Scholar and Fellow of the John Glenn Institute for Public Policy and Public Service. Ms. Santos is conversational in Spanish.
