Christina M. Guerin is a partner in the Orange County office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Professional Liability and Labor & Employment Practices. In addition, Ms. Guerin handles a wide variety of general liability matters.
Ms. Guerin’s professional liability practice focuses on the defense of attorneys and accountants. Ms. Guerin defends professionals in other practice areas as well, including insurance agents and brokers, and real estate agents.
Ms. Guerin has obtained judgment in favor of numerous professional liability clients, from demurrers sustained without leave to amend, to anti-SLAPP motions and motions for summary judgment, and through binding arbitration.
Ms. Guerin has extensive experience in defending claims for malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, malicious prosecution, fraud, unfair business practices, and related claims. Ms. Guerin also has experience representing accountants in investigations conducted by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission relating to the accountant/accountancy firm’s audit of third parties.
Ms. Guerin’s employment practice focuses on the defense of both private and public entity employers in discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination claims. Ms. Guerin’s experience handling employment matters includes representation of employers before the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, in state court and in arbitration, and in pre-litigation resolution.
Beyond her litigation experience, Ms. Guerin has experience counseling and assisting employers in a wide variety of matters, including proper termination procedures, resolution of employee disputes, and drafting employee handbooks and risk management protocols.
Ms. Guerin is a certified Civil Rights Investigator through the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). Ms. Guerin brings her breadth of experience and knowledge from years investigating sexual harassment and related claims under Title VII to the nuanced investigations of Title IX claims.
Ms. Guerin’s specialized training in this field assists in all Title IX related matters, from investigating student claims, to advising educational institutions regarding the adequacy of investigations, to defending against claims of improper investigations.
