Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Arizona in 1988, and his Juris Doctorate degree in law from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 1992.
He currently resides with his wife in Tucson, Arizona. Eric is admitted to practice before both the federal and state courts throughout Arizona. After graduating from law school, his practice included various types of criminal and civil cases, including the representation of clients in bench and jury trials.
Between 1994 and 1997, Eric was a law clerk for Judge Alfredo C. Marquez, Senior United States District Court Judge. In that capacity, he drafted bench memoranda, orders and judgments; served as a bailiff when needed; participated in case management; held status conferences with litigants; and managed the Judge’s office.
On occasions when Judge Marquez was asked to sit on the Court of Appeals, Eric researched and drafted bench memoranda and orders for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
From 1995 to 1997, Eric was an Executive Committee Member of the Federal Bar Association. In 2001 – 2002, he served as the Pima County Drug Court representative to the Crime Prevention Council. Eric has been a State Bar CLE Instructor on consumer bankruptcy; a speaker at the Bench/Bankruptcy Bar Lunches of the Tucson Bankruptcy Bar; and a member of the Bankruptcy Rules Committee.
In 2012, he was appointed as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Committee. In addition to conducting his practice and undertaking in these various administrative and educational activities, Eric has participated in numerous community service projects and events, including pro bono service to U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona.
Providing supervision at Volunteer Lawyers Program Reaffirmation Clinics; providing free legal advice to low income individual and/or homeowners at such events as the Home Rescue Fair sponsored by Chicanos Por La Causa and the Foreclosure Prevention Workshop organized by U.S. Congressman Raul M. Grijalva; and fund raising for the Art Chapa Foundation for Gastric Cancer Prevention.
